One thousand one hundred eleven. Eleven eleven. Eleventy eleventeen. Or just 1,111. That’s just a wacky number to roll out of bed and see. But that’s how many apps there are in the Palm App Catalog right now, at least on the Palm Pre on Sprint – no saying how many you’ll find in other locales (except that it is depressingly less). Hopefully that’ll change sooner than later, but in the meantime we do have one thousand one hundred eleven apps to peruse, with the newest all listed after the break.
App Catalog, Benny The Boulder, Compass App, Echo, Local News, News Feed, Outline Tracker, R-Tycoon, Real Estate by Smarter Agent, SciCalc, Speed Dial Pro, WaTunes, What’s for Dinner?, apps
Echo, apps, blackout, news, spades

Palm’s waited until a quiet Friday afternoon to add a few more apps to their catalog: Blackout, Spades, and Echo.
Blackout is a version of Lightsout, a puzzle game where you try to clear out lights on a board (yep, similar to the Homebrew app, Lights Out).
Spades, as you may have guessed, is the card game and is ad supported.
Finally, Echo is Chapura’s new solution for syncing your Palm Pre with Palm’s own Palm Desktop software. It works over WiFi and is Windows-only (sadly). It’s a 7-day trial, after which you’ll be dropping a relatively hefty $29.95. If you’re still in love with Palm Desktop (hey, we don’t judge here …much), this is your long-awaited solution. You’ll need to grab the desktop component
We’re happy to see new apps in the App Catalog, but we’ll be happier when they’re coming so fast and furious that they don’t even merit comment.
Thanks to Ryan and hparsons for the tip!
Chapura, Contacts, Echo, apps, bookmark, calendar, local sync, news

You’ve got a brand new Palm Pre, and you’ve got Outlook on your computer with all your contacts and calendars, and you’re looking at the two and trying to figure out how to get them to talk. While Palm does have the Data Transfer Assistant to pull your stuff out of Outlook, throw it into the cloud, and then push it down to the Pre, it’s no substitute for actual synchronization. Chapura, makers of the PocketMirror Palm OS-Outlook sync program have declared their intent to bring PocketMirror to webOS. The newest version of PocketMirror will not only sync your Outlook contacts to your Pre, but will do it over your local Wi-Fi network, eliminating any concerns you may have about syncing your data into the unsecured cloud. PocketMirror for webOS, which Chapura’s website claims is ‘coming soon,’ will create a new Synergy account for Contacts and Calendar, enabling you to sync to-and-from Outlook with ease. Chapura will also be releasing Echo, a program that will do the exact same thing as PocketMirror, but with Palm Desktop! With the recently-announced The Missing Sync from mark/space also on the way, it’s looking like the cloud-averse are going to have plenty of options for the coveted local sync.
