We’re in the thick of Palm’s “half-time” sale where everything in the App Catalog is an easy-on-the-wallet 50% off of its normal asking price, we’re on the cusp of the PDK Hot Apps contest, and what better way to spend the money that’s undoubtedly been burning a hole in your pocket then on some great gaming titles. We asked you what your favorite games are and you showed up en masse to let us know. The results are interesting: there’s a good spread between big name titles from likes of EA Games and Glu Mobile, and games from indie developers such as Paratrooper and Defensive Warfare. Head on past the break to find the games, both paid and free, that you and your fellow readers like the most.

If anyone needed further proof that Palm loves the webOS developer community, look no further than what happened to Rob Bredow of Kaboom Apps, developer of favorite game Paratrooper (currently ranked #18 on the Palm Hot Apps list. According to Josh, after providing some high-resolution graphics of Paratrooper to Palm for its CTIA and CES displays, he got an e-mail asking if he would like the panel they displayed. Of course, he agreed, and it just arrived in a crate measuring 10 feet tall and 4.5 feet wide.
Hit up a few more pictures of the big care package after the break.

The App Catalog has seen impressive growth since it first went live a little over 6 months ago. Palm’s Early Access program brought in dozens of developers who have created over 1,000 applications in that time frame, and while we don’t have access to as many apps as other smartphone platforms do, there are a number of high quality ones that fit into all of the important categories.
With that in mind, we’ve created a list of the must have applications that have come our way in 2009. If you’re new to webOS (you should also see our getting started guide), or have been with the platform for awhile and are unaware of how the Catalog has grown over these last few months, this is a guide for you.

Dear Santa,
I know you’re a busy guy and I really should have sent you this letter much earlier, but I know that if anybody could pull off the “Christmas miracle,” it’s you. I’ve tried my best to be a good blogger this year. I know sometimes I’ve aggravated my readers, but I said what I said because I thought it needed to be said. That’s being a good boy, right?
Anyway, I hope that you get this list before you take off from your North Pole base of operations. Below is a list of what I’d really really really like to see on Christmas morning. If it’s not there, I understand, but if it is I promise to be extra good next year. I’m not trying to be greedy, I just want you to know that there’s a lot of stuff that would make me happy. Snow, though one of those things, does not count in the gift tally.

Apparently we somehow missed hitting Friday’s apps while a certain blogger was offline for the weekend, but we’re dedicated here. So today we’re going to give you not just yesterday’s apps, but those from the past weekend too. So yeah, that’s a lot of apps. And as you might be able to guess, that means a long list, and that long list is all after the break.
