Black Friday sales for webOS apps

November 25th 2010 | Posted by Mark Jensen

Black Friday Sale

While we wait for the Palm Pre 2 to arrive domestically on store shelves this holiday season, and webOS 2.0 at some point in "the coming months," webOS apps may be the next best thing. It just so happens that many are currently on sale. So if you’re in the shopping mood, and we assume you are, here are just some of the apps you’ll find on sale this holiday weekend:

These are only a handful of the webOS apps you can find on sale in the Palm App Catalog. To find more sale apps we recommend entering the word "sale" in the app catalog’s search field. Then sort, swipe, and download your way to some great holiday savings. Best part: you don’t have to wait in line for hours to get the best deals!

Scratch, cloud-enabled word processing app, drops price to $1 for NaNoWriMo

November 10th 2010 | Posted by Jonathan I Ezor

While we await the release of webOS 2.0 and its promised QuickOffice suite (with upcoming editing features), let’s not forget that we already have a native word processing app for webOS: Scratch, by No Insult Software. Not only is Scratch already up to version 1.4.1, but it supports importing/exporting from Google Docs and offers features such as in-document search, text formatting (bold/italic/underline), "real paragraphs" and style sheets among others. It can be used for everything from quick (and easily exportable) notes to writing and editing long documents.

Even better, Scratch is on sale at $1 (a 75% discount) for the entire month of November, in honor of NaNoWriMo, aka National Novel Writing Month. While writing an entire novel on a thumbboard may be an overly ambitious (not to mention painful) project, given the confirmation that webOS 2.0 will finally include Bluetooth keyboard support, and its $1 sale price, Scratch should be a must-buy for anyone who is or might want to be a writer.

July 22nd 2010 | Posted by Dieter Bohn

We’ve asked about Social Media apps, Games, and Travel apps, now we’re just straight up asking: the Half-Off sale on webOS apps ends tomorrow and so tell us: what have you purchased? What will you purchase? There are a ton of good apps out there (a few of our faves are after the break) but tell us in the comments what you’re rocking and or rolling.

webOS Half-off sale extended to July 23rd

June 28th 2010 | Posted by Dieter Bohn

Still can’t decide which apps to pick up in Palm’s Half-off sale? We won’t judge waffling on fifty cents (much), but you now have another two weeks to pick and choose – Palm has extended the sale until July 23rd, per the Palm Developer Blog:

We’re so happy with the response that we’ve decided to extend the sale for an additional two weeks. Not only will this give customers more time to explore the catalog and get great deals on your apps, it will give you more time to generate sales and revenue

This also gives new developers (and iPhone game porters) a little more time to get in on the app-sale action. Remember, too, that Palm is absorbing the cost of the sale here, so developers get the full payment for sold apps.

In a related note, PreCentral Tip-meister Extraordinaire Adam Marks notes that App Catalog search is greatly improved lately, meaning it’s easier to find the apps you want to purchase :)

Real Tennis on sale for $0.99, €0.99

April 14th 2010 | Posted by Derek Kessler

Real Tennis

We always like getting in on good stuff for cheap, and Gameloft is giving us a chance to do that with some sweet PDK action. Their game, Real Tennis, is on sale for 99% of a standard currency unit worldwide, retailing for $0.99 in the US of A and €0.99 across the Atlantic in all European countries currently serviced by Palm. The sale’s only good for a few days, so if you’ve got ninety nine hundredths of your local currency to spend, this is certainly one place we’d certainly recommend looking.

Thanks to Germansurfer for the tip!

Bloomberg: Palm putting itself up for sale

April 11th 2010 | Posted by Derek Kessler

Palm for sale?

While we can’t say we’re completely surprised, we are still surprised. Palm CEO Jon Rubinstein has long advocated that Palm’s plan is to go it alone and that they had a path to return to profitability, but Bloomberg is now reporting Palm is putting itself up for sale. According to “three people familiar with the situation,” Palm is working with Goldman Sachs and Qatalyst Partners to find a proper suitor. Bids are expected to come in as early as this week. According to those sources, both HTC and Lenovo are keenly interested in acquiring Palm, and Dell had expressed interest, but has since decided against making an offer. As we would expect, all parties rumored to be involved have declined to comment, but if Bloomberg’s sources are to be believed, Palm’s days as an independent company might be over very soon.

Thanks to everybody that sent this in!

Verizon Palm Pre Plus Drops to $80 – at least for today

March 16th 2010 | Posted by Dieter Bohn

Chris’ eagle eye caught that the Palm Pre Plus is only $79.99 and the Pixi Plus is down to $29.99. Turns out this is part of Verizon’s daily 24 hour sale, so you’ve got most of the rest of the day to pull the trigger.

Actually, this is the second this month we’ve seen Verizon mark the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus down to these prices in their 24 hour sale. Make of that what you will, but we’re behind anything that sells more webOS phones.

Thanks, Chris!
