Video streaming site Hulu recently confirmed that it was adding a Plus tier of paid service ($9.99/month), and has created a preview site for users to request a “Preview Invite.” Clicking on that button leads you a few screens later to a survey with an intriguing set of choices for mobile platforms in use:

Come on, webOS community, let’s get clicking on that button, and tell Hulu that we’re here and we want to watch Shark Attack in the River on our Pres and Pixis!

App Catalog Video Preview

When a potential customer clicks on the link, the device’s YouTube application will open and play the video, giving you the opportunity to show off your application’s potential.

We do ask that you follow the Palm Application Content Criteria when creating your video. Adding a YouTube link counts as a meta-data update, so it will be reviewed.

So, get ready to get creative with video – we’d love to see videos for every application in the catalog!

On the screenshot above you can see the new and improved call log — the image is from a UK GSM Pre as you can clearly see. There are already a lot more screenshots of the webOS 1.4 update on the web, but I will hold on until I get my update to post more “screen captures”.

A Precentral forum member on vacation in Vietnam has already the new webOS version (1.4) on his German unlocked Palm Pre. He even took a video with his webOS device and uploaded it to youtube, the video is not long and is in Spanish (from Spain, not from Latin America) but it looks good.

Currently webOS supports the MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, AMR, QCELP, and WAV audio codecs and the MPEG-4, H.263, and H.264video codecs. Nothing more nothing less. However, that certainly leaves something left to be desired by many users.

Zsoc from WebOS-Internals has heard your cries for wider format support. One of the first formats requested was GSM6.10 encoded WAV audio.  Some businesses deliver voicemails via email in this format. And now, that coded request has been fulfilled. The GSM6.10 WAV codec is now available in Preware for your downloading pleasure.

That's not all. Zsoc has managed to successfully add Ogg as well as Flac codecs onto his device however there are still a few issues that need to be ironed out before he works on figured out how to package it up for end users. In addition, he's made some headway at adding Xvid support, though there are still a few roadblocks to be faced.

So if you've been waiting for GSM6.10 WAV for your device, today's your lucky day. It may not be official, but it's still top notch quality.

Now don’t get me wrong here, I really like the idea of my mom and every single mom out there to have a webOS device. But there will be moms who perhaps won’t like the stereotype of this advertisement. In any case, is good to see big red doing some efforts on advertising the Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus.

As you can see on the image above, Verizon wants your mom to see the webOS handsets as a helpful device by saying: “They notify without interrupting. They organize on command. They’re nothing like your kids.” Now if big red starts advertising for everyone in general that would be awesome. We also have 2 videos below advertising the Palm Pre Plus for mom, enjoy.

On the video below you’ll see how the multitasking prowess of the new Palm Pre Plus on Verizon compares to the original Palm Pre on Sprint. As you will see, preliminary results for this quick test show how much of a difference that extra RAM make on the newer webOS handset.

As you can see on the image above, the only difference that you can see between the Palm Pre Plus and the first webOS device is the “Home” or “navigation” button. But on the video you’ll see the biggest difference at opening cards, and no, you are not dreaming, the Pre Plus had 50 crads open vs 13 on the original Pre. Now I have to say that on my Pre I can open normally between 15 to 20 cards before getting the dreadful “Sorry, Too Many Cards” message.

Apparently, webOS 1.4 is coming in February, and it will bring along Flash 10.1 and Video recording to the Palm Pre. Flash 10.1 should come built-in, although the beta version should be available “very soon” from the App Catalog itself, for all of us webOS users to download.

And the most important update will be video recording, at least for the great majority of Palm Pre owners, like me for example. Some of the stuff you should be able to do on your Pre will be; upload your videos straight to YouTube, Facebook, email and MMS, as you can see on the image above.

And if you are tire of the Palm weird TV commercials of the Pre with Tamara Hope, than you will enjoy the refreshing change on the upcoming TV ad for the Palm Pixi. According to sister site SlashGear, the Palm Pixi ad will begin running this Monday, November 16.

And you can expect to see it on a number of network shows; including Grey’s Anatomy, Dancing with the Stars, House, Saturday Night Live, Top Chef, Gossip Girls and others.
