And just like that, we’re at 675 apps. At this rate, we’re going to hit 1000 by year’s end, no problem. The problem may be the apps themselves, and it feels like an iTunes App Store problem: a bunch of apps with one very specific niche function, and a bunch of apps all with the same function. Yesterday’s apps were loaded with a very specific niche function: tracking the NFL and NHL teams of various cities. But these are the sort of growing pains that we can expect to feel on the way to a large and vibrant developer community, so we’ll list them all anyway, and we’ll do so after the break.

After a quiet weekend Palm dropped a whole load of apps into the App Catalog yesterday, bringing the total to 577. So that’s new apps, right? Right! We’ve got sports apps, sound machines, recipes, notes, games, and even an app to help you get that sleep-thwarting baby into a deep slumber.
